APPLICATION OF LIQUID SCINTILLATION METHOD FOR MEASURING THE GROSS ALPHA-, BETA-ACTIVITY IN WATER

The results of research on the application method measurement gross alpha-, beta-activity in water using liquid scintillation counter (LSC) Quantulus 1220 are presented. Basic procedures preparation and spectrometric aqueous samples were studied performed. detection efficiency beta-particles depending quenching optimum beta-radiation separation parameter for used determined. Testing validation technique was carried out model solutions with different concentrations composition alpha- beta-emitters, as well by participating interlaboratory comparisons. demonstrated that use LSS allows a sufficiently fast accurate estimation below regulated limits without labor-intensive sample preparation.
